How Can severe Constipation be Treated?

My grandson is 13 months old. In the past month he s had two episodes of what I believe to be constipation. His stomach is extended and hard. He pushes and strains trying to poop and he cries and rolls on the floor. He has had a fever each time. The onset is very sudden. He had a normal bowel movement this morning and then the screaming and straining for almost three hours. Once he does finally go it s foamy.; full of bubbles. My questions are; is this normal stool for a child and is there a possibility of something more serious happening?

Hi,

Yes, this could be serious and could be anything including an obstruction. You have to take him to a pediatrician asap.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
